A little preparation goes a long way.
Use this checklist to help everyone arrive comfortable, legal, and ready to fish.
Rest and hydration
Get a good night’s rest and begin hydrating two to three days beforehand. Fatigue and dehydration can make motion sickness worse.
Motion-sickness plan
If you are prone to seasickness, speak with your medical professional and follow the product directions. Preventive options generally work best before symptoms begin.
Dress in layers
Bring warm layers, rain gear, waterproof footwear, a hat, gloves and spare socks. Coastal conditions can change quickly.
Food and water
Bring water, light snacks and a modest lunch. Heavy or oily foods may not sit well on the ocean.
Cooler for the ride home
Leave your cooler in the vehicle during the trip. Your catch can be processed at the dock and packed for the trip home.
Camera and small bag
Bring a phone or camera for the catch and possible wildlife sightings. Keep personal belongings together in one small bag.
Family-friendly policies
Alcohol, smoking, vaping and non-prescription drugs are not allowed. Guests deemed under the influence cannot participate.
About the onboard bathroom
The Safari has a private restroom—a meaningful comfort on trips that may last from two hours to most of the day. Please use shore facilities before departure when practical, but know that privacy is available when nature calls.

Where do KYS Outdoor Adventures fishing trips depart?
Our ocean fishing charters depart from La Push, Washington, on the Olympic Peninsula. Capt. Lamont confirms your meeting and departure details before your trip.
How many people can fish aboard the Safari?
The 31-foot F/V Safari accommodates up to six anglers. Choose a private trip for your family or friends, or book individual seats on a shared trip.
Can one or two people book a fishing trip?
Yes. Smaller groups can book nearshore rockfish and Offshore/Ext. Nearshore Rockfish and Lingcod trips. Those trips need three total anglers to operate; your party does not have to supply all three. Capt. Lamont confirms whether the trip can run.
Are your La Push fishing charters suitable for children and beginners?
Yes. Children of all ages and first-time anglers are welcome, with patient instruction and a G-rated, alcohol-free setting. The two-hour express trip is a shorter option. Tell Capt. Lamont the children's ages and your group's experience so he can help you choose.
What equipment is included, and is there a bathroom?
Rods, reels, tackle and bait are provided. The Safari has a heated enclosed cabin and a private onboard bathroom. Fish processing at the marina is an additional charge.
What time do fishing trips leave?
Departure times depend on the trip, tides and weather. Morning, afternoon and customized departures may be available. Confirm your departure time with Capt. Lamont before making travel plans.
What fish can we target, and where can we see prices?
